New Job- My Dream Come True

Who would have thought that I will get my first industry job in one of my dream companies which is the second largest in the marketing world- FleishmanHillard Highroad by Omnicom. The day I received my offer letter was the day when I stopped self-doubting and underestimating myself. As beautiful as the company looks from the outside, it is exactly similar and even better than that. I cannot express my gratitude to George Brown College, staff & peers for continuous support & wonderful teachings.

Just the way no human being is perfect, similar are the companies and organizations. There are always those little loops or unavoidable elements that can be seen as business problems. Though I have not even completed an entire month to evaluate and comment on any problem, however, there is one of the things which I continue to struggle with from day one which I believe cannot be eliminated but surely can be reduced. Since there are many big clients of the company and I get involved in most of their work, the time entry is still a challenge.

My company has an advanced Time Entry software where an employee has to put ‘Bill Codes’ and calculate the time worked daily for every client. For example, 1.5 hours for client X to be entered In a 5-6 digit bill code, 1 hour for client Y to be entered in a separate 5-6 digit bill code. Not only that, every client’s bill code has a further 8-10 sub-codes for the nature of the job done. For example, Client X has a billing code 12345-000 (for meetings), 12345-010 (for Ad hoc reports), 12345-050 (for Paid Social Ads), etc. which becomes a lot more confusing than it sounds. I believe this challenge can be simplified by the formation of a list where you can search and find the relevant bill code for the concerned client.

Considering all the elements, my internship has started with a blast with a lot of excitement, fun, and learnings as the entire staff at Omnicom is super supportive and very helpful. I am grateful to all the contributors who came in the way and helped me to reach this success.
